Today’s meditation is on Philippians 1 verse 6. And I’m sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

What do we see in this verse? We see the certainty of Paul. I am sure of this, he says. And we see what he’s sure about. That God who began a good work in you.

Now he’s speaking to the Philippian church, but these words are written down for our instruction too. So Paul is sure that God who began a good work, he started something good, which is a work of God in us and in the Philippian church.

And this is to say that whatever God is doing, in our lives is good. And as a work, it’s an ongoing process. So Paul is sure of this, but the most exciting part is that he’s sure that it’s going to be completed in the day of Christ. So when Jesus returns, all of this work that’s going on through our lives will reach fruition.

And so this is a really practical, meaningful, right now hope, isn’t it. That what is happening in us is good. And also that it gives us hope for the future because the work that started is going to be completed and we will be with unveiled faces, all reflecting the glory of God.

Thank you, God, that you continue a good work in us. That you will bring it to completion. That we will see your Son return. And then, your work will be complete. Amen.
