What does it take for our heart to be in that state where what we really want is what God wants?
The psalmist says that that person, the one who truly reverences God, who adores him and wants to follow him, that person is blessed.
And blessed in multiple ways. First of all, we’re blessed because God rewards those who obey him. But we’re also blessed because that is a great state of being to be in, to be fearing God with reverence fear, appreciating truly who he is, our holy and loving God, and also to be enjoying serving him.
Once we’ve found out what it is that God wants of us, once we see that he’s given us gifts to do the things that he wants us to do, there is so much satisfaction and rightness in doing those things. That delights us and it delights God. You know, in Chariots of Fire, Eric Liddell is quoted as saying, “When I run, I feel his pleasure.” When we do the things that God made us to do, we feel his pleasure.
