Yesterday’s meditation focused on Jesus’s words of life. But can we speak words of life? Well, let’s see what Proverbs chapter 10, verse 11 says. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

The words that we use reveal who we are. Our behaviors, our attitudes eventually come out. And if we are living righteously, if we are seeking to follow the way of Christ, if we are allowing and inviting the Holy Spirit to grow his Fruit in us, to transform us, then we, as the righteous, have a fountain of life coming from our mouths.

Have you ever spent time with someone, a believer, a fellow Christian, and just felt so full of energy after you’ve been in that person’s presence because they carry something of God with them at all times? Because they communicate spiritual truths? Because they impart something to us? Well, we can do that too. And all that is necessary, is for us to pursue righteousness.

Let us not then be like the wicked, whose mouths hide violence. Ultimately, in the heart of every wicked person is violence, corruption, and death. Let us be those who speak life, the life that we have been given by Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father, may you put your words into our mouths so that we can speak life. We can speak life over our brothers and sisters, but we can also speak life over our communities, our neighbourhood, our nations. Father God, please bring your life to this world in greater and greater measure. Amen.
