Let’s meditate on Genesis chapter 1 verse 27. So God created man in his own image. In the image of God, he created him. Male and female, he created them.

What an honour it is for us to have been made in the image of God. How can we possibly be like him in any way, he who is so mighty and above everything, and we who are so small and insignificant relatively? You only have to look at the size of the universe to see how tiny we are in comparison.

And yet God chose to make us like him. He chose himself as the template for humans and God from his own DNA brought forth men and women to be reflective of his image.

In what way we are like God, that’s too big a subject to consider in just a two minute meditation. And so you might want to, at the end of this video, reread this passage, which is in the description under the video and spend some time contemplating the way in which we’re like God.

But let’s start by thinking that God has given us a spirit. He is spirit. He’s given us a spirit and that is a reason why we can be eternal. That is a reason why I will one day see my son again in heaven who’s gone before me. That’s incredible that God has made us like him so that we can be with him forever.

All we need to do is to accept Jesus, to accept the sacrifice that he made so that all our sin is dealt with and so that we people in God’s image can spend eternity with him. Doesn’t that blow your mind?

Thank you, God, that you patterned us on you. We didn’t deserve that, but you are God and we are so grateful that you’ve made us yours.

Amen.
