All you need is Jesus. Is that true? How true is it? Let’s listen to Jesus’s own words. John 14 verse 6. Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
And if we look at this verse, we’ll see that Jesus has just been talking to the disciples about heaven, about the kingdom of heaven, about God, about how there’s going to be room for them in heaven. And they’re saying, How do we know this is true?
And Jesus is saying, Look at me. I’m not just the way. I’m not just the route through which you get eternal life. I am also the truth, not just a truth, the truth, the universal principle. He is who he is. His words are completely trustworthy and everything that he says will come to pass.
And he’s not just the way, he’s not just the ultimate truth. He’s also the life. When we get to heaven, when we get to spend time with God, when we enter eternity, that won’t be the end. We will have the life because Jesus is the life. His life will be in us.
Jesus is the complete and comprehensive answer to our question: what’s the point? What comes next? Why? The answer to life, the universe, and everything is Jesus. The way, the truth and the life.
And the importance of that is that we want to go to the Father. We want to have unity with the one who loves us, with the one who made us, with the one who created this universe so that he could have a relationship with us.
Jesus is the solution to all of that. Thank God for Jesus.
Lord God, we honour you. We honour the Holy Spirit. We honour Jesus. Thank you for giving us the way, the truth, the life in the person of Christ. He has the words of eternal life and we will listen to him. Amen.
