When we come to meditation, it’s just us and God. So we have to be honest, right? Because God can see right through us. And so let’s look at Proverbs 10 verse 9 with that honesty in mind. Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
The scripture is amazing at revealing our truest attitudes. Do we always walk in integrity? If somebody accuses us of something, if there’s a degree of truth in that, are we immediately honest about it, or do we seek the explanation that shows us in the best possible light?
What is integrity, but doing exactly what you mean, and always speaking honestly. This is the way to walk securely, because if we’re not walking in integrity, if our ways are crooked, we’ll be found out. Ultimately, straying from God’s path takes us into unrighteousness and judgment. And even though we have the power of the cross covering our sins, there are consequences in this life for walking without integrity.
Now, we see all around us people who lack integrity and they seem to get away with it, don’t they? But we know, from what the Bible tells us, that they do not. Nothing that we do that is dishonest, no lie, goes unseen by our Father in Heaven.
It’s so important, isn’t it, that we have the power of the cross covering our sin because otherwise we would be without hope. We would be lost.
Lord God, you know that our hearts still incline towards evil, towards dishonesty. Please let the work of your Holy Spirit continue in our lives so that we become more like Christ, more pleasing to you, more holy. We need your help with this. Father, thank you that you give your help generously. Amen.
