Today we meditate on Psalm 25 verse 9. He leads the humble in what is right and teaches the humble his way.
If we were to learn a new skill, one of the best ways to learn that skill is to go to the person that is best at that skill. If you want to learn woodwork, go and sit with a master carpenter. So if we want to learn how to get through life achieving success in the way that God defines it, the best thing to do is to sit at his feet, to learn from him.
And the only way we can truly learn from God is to come with an attitude of openness and humility, knowing that whatever he says is true, even if it contradicts what we already think to be true. We have to come with humility to God. We have to come with a teachable heart and with that attitude, God teaches us what’s right.
He teaches us his way. He longs to train us. He longs to bring us up as his obedient, loving children; as he is towards us, our loving Father.
Lord God, please help us to approach you with humility. Even that humility is something that we need to be taught. We want to learn from you. We want to learn as much from you as you are willing to teach us.
We know sometimes that will be difficult, but your way is the best way, God. And so we bow before you and ask you to teach us as we approach you in humility. Amen.
