This is a beautiful verse. 2 Corinthians chapter 4 verse 6. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness", has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

So we know from the way that the universe was created that God is in the business of pushing back the darkness and shining light, both physically and spiritually. He said, "Let there be light" so that we as the creatures living on this earth could see.

But he takes that one step further. He knows that there is darkness in our hearts by virtue of sin, by being born into a fallen world. He does not want that darkness to continue in us. So he shines in our hearts. through the face of Jesus Christ. When we look to Jesus, when we receive knowledge of who Jesus is, this becomes light to us. This knowledge becomes light, we perceive some of the glory of God.

Now isn’t that wonderful? Let there be light, God says, in you, in me. Let this light spread. Let it fill our minds and our hearts and our consciences, so that we know what is pleasing to God. And so that we can learn to love and serve and worship Him, as we come to know his son, Jesus, better and better.

Thank you, God, for revealing to us your truth, that Jesus is the way to you. Thank you, God, for shining light in our hearts. Amen.
