James chapter 1 verse 12 says, Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
Are you under trial? Are you being tested? I can tell you is that watching my son slowly fade away has been an incredible test.
Me and my wife. It has felt like a trial. And it’s a trial that God has allowed us to endure. And I am absolutely not going to hold myself out as a paragon of virtue because there have been times during this trial when I’ve said, "God, are you even there? Is Morgan really going to heaven at the end of this?"
But we have seen too much of God’s grace in our life to think that way for long. And so I encourage you to remain steadfast under trial, to continue holding fast to the faith, because no matter, no matter what pressure, no matter what fire you walk through, you can believe that you are going to receive the crown of life, eternal life, an eternal good life. And God promises that to the people that love Him, and that promise, you can take it to the bank.
God is going to give us the crown of life. That is an incredible hope, and that is the reason that we can remain steadfast under trial. That we have something far better than this to look forward to.
God, please help us to endure. I know that you do. Please help us, and we thank you for the promise that you’ve given us: the promise on which we can rely. Amen.
