1 John 4 verse 15. Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God.
Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, that’s us, isn’t it? Us Christians. We are saying, Jesus, he is the Son of God. That’s what makes him distinctive and that’s who we follow.
And so having said that, God abides, lives, resides, is present, is always present with us and in us. And we know that this is the Holy Spirit indwelling and transforming us. But also, he abides in God. The one that has confessed Jesus as the Son of God abides in God. And what a safe place that is to be.
You know, in the times of air raids, people would run to their basement or to their shelter and there they would feel safe, protected from any bombs that might be dropped or any attack. And I can’t think of a safer place to be than in God. If we are in God, what can assail us? Certainly not the darts, the arrows from the enemy. We are so safe and we are centred in his love. We are protected, we are nourished, we are cherished, we are cared for, and we are given strength. So let’s stay there, abiding in God, and knowing that He abides in us.
God, we confess that Jesus is your Son, our Saviour. Thank you for living in us. Lord, thank you for letting us live in you. Amen.
