Transcript
“Make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I’m with you always to the end of the age.”
This is the mission that God gave to his disciples. And by implication, it’s a mission for us too. All Christians are joined together in this one mission to spread God’s kingdom. By making disciples. Not by just telling people about Jesus, but by inviting them to share in all that means, in the growth of the knowledge of God, in the increase of his character through the work of the Holy Spirit in us.
And so we baptise people into this Trinitarian framework, the complete and cohesive, comprehensive view of the true and living God, teaching people to do what Jesus has commanded. We don’t live by law, but we still have a Father to learn to love and to learn to obey.
