Well, my friends walking like Jesus walked. Are we going to do that? Are we going to commit to that? Let’s look today at a verse in one John two. One, John chapter two, verse six. Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
John is saying, my dear children, he liked to call his readers his dear children, because he loved them so much, he felt fatherly towards them, he says, my dear children, if you say that you are Christ, and Christ is yours, then there should be evidence of that in the way that you live. If you say that Jesus is in you, his Holy Spirit is in you then that should be the start of a journey that is in many ways similar to Christ’s.
What about Jesus’s walk should we see in our lives? Well, we clearly should see ourselves growing in love and patience and compassion. To see the power of the Holy Spirit demonstrated in us. Yes, maybe even seeing miracles, speaking prophecies, changing the lives of people around us.
That’s the mission that we’ve been called to part of it anyway: to walk the way that Jesus walked. To live day by day in communication with God. Not just leaving that for Sundays or the odd day of the year. No, every day Jesus would go and pray. Spend time with his Father. That’s for us too. Walking like Jesus walked means having communion with God every single day, so that if we don’t do it, we really miss it.
So will we do these things, my friends, and not only say them? Will we who claim the name of Christ, who call ourselves Christians follow through on this and walk like Jesus walked?
We don’t have to do this in our own strength. He empowers us to walk this way, But that also requires a decision of our will. Will we say yes to this?
