God says that it isn’t good for the man to be on his own. And I think anybody who has suffered loneliness can agree with that. We don’t all have the privilege of walking in a relationship with a spouse, but nevertheless, God has sent us many people on this earth so that we can be in relationship with others so that we are not alone. And we don’t necessarily need to be married to one another in order to be helpers for each other.
But this is a very special relationship that God’s talking about. He has designed this relationship between Adam and Eve, and this is replicated throughout the generations. There is something uniquely beautiful and right about the God ordained relationship of marriage.
And this is one of the reasons why marriage is often used as the symbol of the relationship between Jesus and his church. It is sacred, it is divine, it is blessed.
