If we can get today’s meditation verse deeply into our souls, it will radically change for the better how we experience life. It’s Philippians chapter one, verse 21. For me to live is Christ and to die is gain.
The Apostle Paul here is writing about the ultimate win-win scenario. Whatever happens to him, he knew if he lived, he could carry on walking in the purposes of God, sharing the gospel to all that he met. And on the other hand, if he died, he would go to be with God, to be with his Saviour, to have that face-to-face relationship. Either way, Paul was content.
It is very hard for us to get to that position, isn’t it my friends, where we feel content regardless of what’s going on around us. But this is the key to that contentment, isn’t it? Knowing that either way we are safe. We are in Christ as we live for him, and we remain in Christ as we die.
We are in all ways that matter, completely safe. So this is something for us to take on board thoroughly, because it changes how we look at everything.
Lord God, thank you that you have given us this complete win-win situation through Your grace. Please help us to live for Christ, to live for the gospel, knowing that ultimately when we die, we will be with you and we gain everything! Amen.
