I love celebrating the advent season, and our focus remains on Jesus as we meditate in the runup to the time that we celebrate his birth. Today we’re meditating on Colossians three verse one. If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

Because Jesus came to earth and died for us we are able to be raised. Raised from our lowly, sinful state, to be with Christ. To be in a redeemed, transformed situation.

And so God would have us in this state to consider primarily the things that are above, primarily the advance of the kingdom of God, primarily the winning of souls to learn to love Jesus as we love him. Primarily the work that God would have us do on this earth , to flourish, to grow, to build, to develop, to love one another.

And as we focus on things that are above, we are reminded of our Saviour who is sitting in that position of authority at the right hand of God in that blessed, amazing union of the Trinity. He is the person of the Trinity who physically became human and secured our salvation.

And so we focus on him. We remember him, and we keep these truths in front of us at all times through our life. We, my friends are raised with Christ and that is marvellous. Let us keep our eyes fixed on him throughout this advent season. God bless you.
