The character of God and what it is that he wants from us, his children. The first thing is that he wants us to fear him, but not that we’re terrified of him; that we’re giving him reverence-fear, that we’re looking to him with awe and respect as the maker of the universe and the lover of our souls.
He wants us to walk in all his ways. There are many examples and we look first at the character and the person of Christ and all that he did.
He wants us to love him, he puts the Holy Spirit in us to grow his Fruit, the first aspect of which is love. He gives us the Holy Spirit in order that we can love him.
He wants us to serve him with all our heart and soul. And he draws that service out of us, by the love that he shows for us and the love that he puts in us.
And he wants us to keep his commandments and this is not a legalistic thing. In the Bible he tells us of his moral nature. And the greatest commands are to love God, and to love people, to love our neighbours as ourselves.
