If there was one thing that Jesus came to show us when he arrived on this earth was the importance, the significance, and the enduring nature of the love of God, which we meditate on today as we look at Psalm 119, verse 64. The earth, O Lord, is full of your steadfast love. Teach me your statutes.
Now, as we look around this earth, we may see things that don’t to us look like love. Nevertheless, we’ve been placed in an environment that is not hostile to human life. In fact, on the contrary, God has so ordained that we have this planet where human life can flourish and develop. That is one sign of his steadfast love.
The coming of Jesus Christ, our Saviour is another and most important sign of his steadfast love. That happened on this earth. It made the earth continue to be full of his steadfast love because Jesus and the message of what He did for us, that message has filled the earth so that we can even 2000 years later, still respond to that love and allow that love to grow in our hearts.
And so we respond to that love that God has for us saying, Lord God, please lead us. Please teach us. You are a being who is worthy to be obeyed and adored. Teach us your statutes O God, because your way is a good way and we wish to be made more into the likeness of the prime example of love. Jesus Christ.
