The heavens and the earth will be recreated. We see that in the book of Revelation.
And this is sobering because we know that we are in history on a course towards this ultimate end. What lies beyond is bliss and paradise with God, but along the way, God is going to bring about his judgment. All the wrongs in this world will ultimately be righted. All those who reject God will be themselves rejected by God.
And so we who know God, should bear this in mind, so that we are doing what we can to bring people into the better knowledge of God, showing to them how beautiful it is to be in relationship with him. How much he makes sense of this world and this life.
We shouldn’t be motivated by terror-fear of this judgment, this destruction, because God wants us to operate from a foundation of love. But we still need to be mindful that God is a holy God and that holiness and justice demands punishment.
