Proverbs chapter 31, verse 10: An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
And “precious” here means not only of great value, but also rare. And that can be our experience, that actually it’s really hard to find an excellent spouse, male or female. So the writer of Proverbs recognises that this is a gift from God.
I would say we are all capable of being an excellent wife or an excellent husband, provided we ask the Holy Spirit to grow his Fruit in us. Because that excellent Fruit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control are all things that we need for a successful, healthy, thriving marriage. God’s blessing is upon this woman and therefore upon her household.
