There are so many things in this world, in this life that can grind us down, leave us exhausted, sadden us, exhaust us, leave us traumatised. So many cares, we’ve got that bit.
But what about the consolations that cheer our souls? What are these consolations that the Psalmist is thinking about?
I think that we see in the Bible many things that God says to us that are intended for our comfort and even for our joy, our happiness, our pleasure.
Consolations like I will always be with you.
You know, when we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God is with us. In the worst possible circumstances, he is right with us. That is comforting, that is consoling.
