Do you want a better life, a more blessed life? Meditate on this verse. Proverbs 16 verse 20. Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good. And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.
Whoever gives thought to the word. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean the word of God. This means any matter anything under consideration. Give thought to it. Dwell on things. Take your time, ponder. Be mindful.
And in doing so, you will find the good in things, in situations, in people in life. Don’t necessarily take everything at face value.
The writer of the Proverbs wants us to use our brains, the sense that God has given us, but also the wisdom that comes from on high. And in doing that, in taking the path of wisdom, good follows from that. It may not necessarily always be the kind of good that we are hoping for, but good as God defines it.
And blessed is He who trusts in the Lord. You will be blessed if you trust God in all circumstances: “God, I don’t understand what’s going on right now. I don’t like it, but I trust you, Lord.” If we say that to him and we mean it, then his blessing is on us.
Life doesn’t turn out the way we want it to sometimes, does it? In this life, we will have trouble, but Jesus said, “Take heart. I’ve overcome the world.”
So we can fully trust in God and fully believe that he will bless us. God is a good Father and he loves to shower blessings on his children. He doesn’t always give us what we ask for because he knows better than us what’s good for us, but he will always bless us.
That’s what he wants to do as a loving and caring God. So let us take this verse into our hearts. Give thought to every matter. Look for the good. And trust in our God.
