I’m a realist. I believe in accepting the reality of the situation in which we find ourselves not pretending that things aren’t as they are.
So what do we do then when things seem difficult? We go back to scripture and meditate on it. Romans 8: 31. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
As a Christian, do you believe that God is for you? Do you believe that he is on your side? Do you believe that he is actually championing your cause, In accordance with his will and purposes for your life?
Do you believe that? That’s what the word of God says. And so if God is for us, if we are walking within his plan, if we are keeping in step with his Spirit, then who can be against us?
Is there anyone who can possibly oppose God and hope to win? Is there any human who can thwart the purposes of God? It’s not a trick question. The answer is no. There’s no one.
So if God is for us, if God has set us on a course and given us the skills to do what we need to do, then we can rest assured that God walks with us through whatever we’re doing in all circumstances of life, and he, as our Father is cheering us on. He’s a good Father.
This verse doesn’t mean that life will never be difficult. It just means that there’s hope. There’s always hope. When we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, God is with us.
So what do we say when all these things are going on in life and in the world? We say well God’s for us, so no one can stand against us. And no one ultimately can stand against his gospel or the advance of his kingdom. That is good news indeed.
