My dear friends, please don’t think that your position in life, whether that seems lofty or low, has any bearing on what God can do through you. Today, we meditate on Ephesians chapter three, verse eight. To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Paul the apostle, was very conscious of his history, what had happened in his past. He had been persecuting and killing Christians. When he said that he was the very least of all the saints. He’s saying, I don’t deserve to be in the position that I’m in. He was very mindful of that.

And we may have all sorts of background and history that we think excludes us from being useful for God, excludes us from the things that he would otherwise have for us. We may think that we’ve blown it so much that God has no further use for us.

And Paul would say, please don’t think that way. Look at me. I was given the opportunity not only to do some good, but to really be involved in the founding of the church and the dramatic spread of the Christian faith worldwide.

If you were having a conversation with Paul right now, and you were talking about all the reasons why God couldn’t use you, he would say to you, “My friend, let me tell you, there was no chance God could use me. No way on this earth!”

And this is what we see throughout the Bible and throughout history that God takes the people who should not on paper succeed in any way at all, and he uses them. And in this way, he’s glorified because it has to be God then, doesn’t it?

So take comfort, but don’t take pride in the fact that God can and will use you. You just need to say, yes Lord, I’m ready. Send me.
