Today we’re going to meditate on the position in which we stand before God. And if we let this sink in, it is going to bless us. Galatians chapter four, verse seven. So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
We don’t need to get hung up on the gender exclusivity in this verse. It just means in the context of the time in which this was written, that you’ve become an inheritor, because only sons would inherit.
So we are now in the position of inheritor from God. We’ve been taken out of the position of slave.
Now, this is the kind of slave that’s a bond servant that has a debt to be worked off through life. God is saying, you have no debt to me. You don’t need to work off any debt towards me.
And this have massive implications, doesn’t it? This means that we don’t need to do anything at all to be right with God. We don’t have to try and please him even to stand righteous before him. No, Jesus did that.
So in our trying to please him, we are simply doing that because he’s our Father and we love him. We’re not doing it to get into his good graces. We’re already there.
So this is truly liberating and uplifting to be an inheritor from God. Can you imagine? He created this universe? What’s our inheritance going to look like? It’s gonna be wild. We have so much to look forward to in the next life once Jesus has returned and once the fullness of all that God intends for this world is complete.
This little verse is well worth meditating on in greater depth. If you can find time, you will be rewarded. You’ll find the verse in the description. May God bless you.
