In our final meditation in this mini series on the character of God, today we look at one of the things we need the most from God: his supportiveness. Psalm 68, verse 19. Blessed be the Lord who daily bears us up. God is our salvation. Selah.
The Psalmist says that God daily bears us up. He supports us every day. He’s not some distant God who leaves us to go about other business. Every single day, He is with us. He’s right beside us. He is saving us, and he is supporting us, even, and especially on those days where we don’t feel saved or supported.
Our mind can play tricks on us. God never leaves us, never forsakes us, and even in the valley of the Shadow of Death, he is right beside us, comforting and protecting us.
We must thank God for being this constant support to us. How could we survive our lives without that support? God gives us everything that we need in order to walk through this life.
Admittedly, sometimes this sees us at absolute rock bottom, when we feel like we can do nothing else. And yet when we put our feet down, we find that our feet are on the Rock.
At no time does God leave us alone, at no point in our experience. When we are suffering and in anguish and in sorrow, he is there with us experiencing that suffering and sorrow and anguish alongside us. And he says, come child, hold my hand. Walk with me. I am with you every step of the way.
God is our support. He is our salvation, and in him we can totally trust.
