Let’s take some encouragement today my friends from the loving fatherly Apostle John. One John chapter four, verse four. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them. For he who is in you is greater than He who is in the world.
John is saying that we have overcome the spirits that come against us and the spirit of the antichrist. We have overcome the dark forces that are arrayed against us.
And it’s not to our credit that we’ve overcome those forces. No it’s because Christ Jesus who is in us is greater than the enemy, is greater than the world is greater than the one of the world. And he’s greater in every way. He is superior. He is more powerful, he is more righteous and just. And this same Christ, the power that raised him from the dead, that same power is at work in our mortal bodies, said Paul.
So when you are feeling overwhelmed, go back to this verse, meditate on it and tell yourself this truth. He who is in me, that is Jesus Christ, is greater than anything else coming against me.
And we have that assurance because we now are from God. He has taken us into his family and sent us out as his disciples and ambassadors. This is how we overcome, by the power of Jesus Christ at work in us.
Lord God, I thank you for this reassurance and I thank you for sending Jesus. Thank you for sending his Spirit to live in us, to give us everything that we need to run this race that you have set us. Thank you, God, that you overcome and we overcome through you. Amen.
