You will never on this channel hear me endorse the prosperity gospel, which is no gospel at all. And yet prosperity is in the Bible and it is good and it is for us. Take a look at Psalm chapter one, verse three. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season and its leaf does not wither in all that he does he prospers.

He’s talking here about the righteous man who studies the law of God, who meditates on it, who takes it in into his heart. That’s us. We are meditating on God’s word.

And so the promise here from God is that we will be like these trees planted by streams of water. That we will be fruitful, that we will bear fruit in its season, that our leaves won’t be withering. That in what we do for God, his blessing will be in it. In what we do, we prosper.

But prosper doesn’t mean sudden windfall of money does it? Prosper, means growth, fruit, and we know that the Holy Spirit living in us grows his Fruit. So we can expect that as we are pressing into God, as we are searching out his word, that the prosperity that God ordains will come on us, will be seen in our lives.

And again, do I need to say again? This is not about money. This is about God’s Fruit. This is about what really matters, brothers and sisters. This is about God advancing his kingdom in us and through us.

And so the expectation here for us is that as we meditate on God’s word, as we draw closer to him, as we learn who he is and who He’s made us, we will see him use us for his purposes. And those purposes will be good, and that there will be true spiritual prosperity the way God defines it.

Lord God, we are at your disposal as your physical hands and feet on this earth. As we study your word, as we gather together around your truths, we ask God that you grow your fruit in us and that you will bring that prospering in our lives, in our communities, in our churches, God, in this world. Amen.
