Some sins are so overpowering, they change our character for the worse.
Yes, we know that sin no longer has dominion over us. We are set free. But we’re not going to descend into licentiousness. We’re not going to just do whatever we want. Because some things are harmful, some things will cripple us. Some things will destroy our relationship. They will harm friendships.
And most of all, these things that God dislikes, they don’t honour Him. They harm our relationship with Him.
We need to be going back to Him saying, Lord, the things I’ve done, I’m sorry for what they’re doing to our relationship. As far as God’s concerned, there’s no problem, we’re forgiven. But as far as we’re concerned, we allow this sin to come between us when we choose these things rather than God.
Fortunately, the cure for all of this is fairly easy, we just repent again. We keep doing that daily, every time we stumble and fall. But there is no condemnation for any of this.
