Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight O Lord my Rock and Redeemer.
There’s a lot in this verse. He’s starting from a place of submission to God. He’s saying God, the words that I’m going to speak now, and as I meditate on you internally in my heart, I want that process to be to your liking.
You’re my King, you’re my God. In you I place my hope and my trust. You are the one who saves me. Therefore, what I return to you, I want it to be acceptable to you.
And if we take that approach in our meditation, we know then that the reason why we’re meditating is because of God. Not because of what we will get out of it.
