For God alone my soul waits in silence, from him comes my salvation.
Some forms of meditation ask us to clear our minds, and we don’t do that in Christian meditation. We focus on God, we focus on his Word. But we can sit in silence as we meditate, waiting for God.
Because in meditation, we are not simply coming up with our thoughts. We are listening to the Holy Spirit, we are listening to what God has to say to us. And you can only truly listen if you stop speaking.
And as we wait in silence, we are waiting, we’re saying, to hear from God. No one else. We don’t want some clever clogs on the internet. We want to hear the words of eternal life from our Maker, recognising that from Him comes our salvation. Nobody else can save us, only God. And this is why we are so determined that we are going to wait for our God.
