Again in this Advent series, we look at a prophecy given to us about the Messiah, and it’s from Isaiah chapter nine, verse seven. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of Lord of Hosts will do this.
How often do we read in the Bible, do we get insight into the passion of God? The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will do this. God is passionate to see his purposes fulfilled in his coming Messiah in Jesus Christ.
And there’s this wonderful part of the promise where it says his government and his peace is going to increase forever. So throughout time and eternity, when Jesus’s reign, after his second coming, begins in earnest, this will continue then, forever, increasing throughout eternity. There will be so much peace, and we consider this at a time when there’s not as much peace in our world as we would like.
There will be constant continuing justice and righteousness, no more evil, no more crime, no more sickness, no more death. And again, we are reassured that this will happen because God is passionate about this.
Thank you, God, for these Messianic prophecies that we can see partly fulfilled in the first coming of Christ and looking forward to ultimate fulfilment in his second coming. Thank you for the hope this gives us and the insight it gives us into your kindness, your compassion, your love, and your passion towards the people that you have created; towards us. Amen.
