Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and because of this, it perhaps makes more sense why He would be an everlasting King.
He is a King, though, from the line of faithful David, the King who was frequently described as a man after God’s own heart, as is Jesus, always seeking to do His Father’s will, despite being God Himself. And this humble, gracious Shepherd becomes our King forever.
Lord God, we thank you for our always King, Jesus, son of David, Jesus, our Lord God, Jesus the baby, Jesus the man, Jesus enthroned in heaven. Amen.
