And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased."
This is an angelic army. These are messengers from God in a mighty throng. Many of them face to face with these shepherds, and they are, I imagine, singing or chanting loudly, "Glory to God in the highest!" that is their worship, and they are leading us in worship.
And then they say, "And on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased." The worship is followed by a blessing, and we benefit from that blessing.
