Let’s meditate on Ephesians chapter 1 verse 3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.
We are blessed in Christ. So God chose to send Jesus not only to take away our sin, not only to put us into right relationship with him, but also to pour out every spiritual blessing.
What does that mean? What are all these spiritual blessings in the heavenly places? Well, we know that heaven is a place where there is no death. Heaven is a place where the glory of God shines without limit. Heaven is a place where God is constantly worshipped. Heaven is a place where everything is beautiful and love abounds.
By sending Jesus, and then afterwards by sending us the Holy Spirit, we are given a guarantee, a promise, that these spiritual blessings are ours. This is what we will be experiencing, my friends.
We have blessings now, for sure, but once Jesus returns to claim his throne over all the earth, what our blessings will be then! When we are in our resurrection bodies, where we will never perish, where we are able fully to enjoy and experience God in all his splendour, what blessings are going to be ours in that age.
And for this reason we say, with Paul: blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, God. You are so gracious and generous. Amen.
