Let’s meditate on 2 Corinthians 2 verse 14. But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

There is drama and ceremony in our work of spreading the gospel. Christ is leading us in triumphal procession. The grandeur of the truth of the gospel has spread throughout the world. That is remarkable that it started with just a handful of people and now the news of Christ, the good news of Christ, is everywhere.

And later in this chapter Paul says that to some it’s a fragrance of life and to others it’s a fragrance of death, according to whether or not they receive it. But let us be fragrant. Let us be spreading the gospel.

Do your colleagues know that you’re a Christian? Do the people in your family know that Jesus has transformed your life? Is the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ surrounding you, my friends? Just as aftershave or perfume is smelt by those around us, so let the fragrance of Christ surround our lives and be perceived and smelt by everyone who we encounter.

We are to bring truth and revelation and goodness and all the wonderful characteristics of the fruit of the Spirit. Let us be those who spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Christ everywhere.

Lord God. Please fill us so full of you, of the Holy Spirit, that this is obvious and evident everywhere we go, that you are in us and that you, God, are beautiful and that those around us will smell this joyous, this wonderful fragrance and be drawn to Jesus Christ, our beautiful Saviour. Amen.
