Let’s dig into today’s meditation passage. It’s 2 Timothy 3, verses 16 to 17. All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete in righteousness, equipped for every good work.

Here we learn something really important about Scripture. For a start, it’s all come from God. This is how we know Scripture to be reliable. That God breathed it out. That God is involved in the writing of every word that we have received through the ages.

And then, what good is it to us? Well, it’s of immense good. If we dive into the Word of God, we will receive what teaches us, what reproves, what corrects us, what tells us where we’re going wrong. We will be trained in righteousness. We will have a proper moral compass.

And of what benefit is that? Well, we will be complete. We’re not going to be completed by a job. We’re not going to be completed by a spouse. We are going to be completed by the word of God working in us.

We will be complete and we will be equipped. That is, we will have every tool that we need to do God’s work, to do His good work.

God has already given us everything that we need, even though it may not seem like it. Remember that His plan is superior to any of our plans. The plans of God are being worked out right now in your life, in my life. Because we have received his word and it gives us all of this.

Thank you God for your word. We would be cast adrift without it. You have taught us so much. Please help us to be diligent, to read your word, to dig into it, to meditate on it, and to be corrected and equipped by you. Amen.
