Galatians 6 verse 7. Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

Don’t be deceived, people. You can’t pull one over on God. If we sow into the flesh, Paul says, we are going to reap from the flesh. If we keep on sinning, then we are going to get sinful outcomes in our lives. This is a principle that applies from agriculture into our lives, our daily lives.

If we sow into the spirit, if we meditate, if we pray, if we spend time in fellowship with other believers, if we worship God, we will reap spiritual rewards. We will see spiritual growth. If in this life we want to see growth, we want to see lives changed, transformed, we want to see the gospel being effective in our communities, then we must sow to the spirit.

The trouble is that the flesh is always going, Oh, you really want to do this. Oh, you really want to watch that. Oh, you really want to consume the other. We must kill the flesh. We can’t feed it. We mustn’t. God won’t be mocked. If we sow into the sinful nature, we are going to reap sinful results.

Lord God, thank you that you have put your spirit in us so that the fruit of the Spirit will grow. But we still need your help, God, because we are so inclined to sow to the flesh. Please help us, God. We want to see your kingdom coming increasingly on this earth right now. Father God, please help us with this. Please help us to follow you. Please help us to be true and good disciples of your son Jesus. Amen.
