Today we meditate on James chapter 3 verse 16. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. James delivers a stinging rebuke to the Christians that he’s writing to, which includes us. How often do we see in our churches, jealousy and selfish ambition. I for sure have seen that in myself.

Do we sincerely want the best for everyone around us, regardless of what’s happening to us? Do we mind if people get advantages that we don’t? Do I want "my ministry" to have a platform? And if so, why?

And I know it’s ironic for me to say this because I am producing videos on YouTube. Why am I doing that? Is it out of selfish ambition? I hope not. But these are questions that we must ask ourselves. Why? Because where jealousy and selfish ambition are present, there will be disorder and every vile practice. These evil attitudes of heart will inevitably lead us to destruction.

So let us guard against these things, and in all honesty, test our hearts and our motivations.

Lord God, please, though it may be painful, reveal to us the truth about ourselves, so that we can lay ourselves down, on the altar before you and ask you to change us, because we want to be more like Christ for the sake of your glory and the advance of your kingdom. Amen.
